parts falling off
Tuesday, 022205
Yesterday was busy3. Today has been more of the same only some of the old parts could use a bit of grease and duct tape. It's been ~28 years since I've had to route a bunch of wiring through those old conduits and it meant pulling a lot of the old wiring out. Required certain angulations of the carcass that haven't been used in a heck of a long time. That wasn't automatic weapon fire, just my physiology being re-arranged. Painfully. I probably should put a blanket on the floor beside the bed tonight - it's a good bet when I try to get out of it in the morning, parts are gonna fall off.
Got a lot done but the most satisfying was the easy cure for the non-function of one section of the newly upgraded demand water heater in the studio. I'd originally just installed the prototype from 5 years ago with a fancier control system and knew it would not be adequate if/when I decided to rent the place out. A year or so ago I'd installed the 4X heating core and drivers, just never tested the set due to limited power in the shop. Welllll, I'd left out one little 24 gauge, 3/4" wire!
This was the original, built out of bits and pieces laying around the shop. I'd mounted it on a gate post next to the greenhouse back in March of 2000. Took a shower out there once (operative word: once) when the air temp was 45 ° . Nippish.

Didn't make it any further last night. Got peckish, munched, promptly fell into a deep coma. The blanket on the floor didn't happen but as stiff as I was, the extra bruising the loose parts got didn't make any difference. After a long, very hot shower and a couple of cups of tea, the round toit list got edited. It had the chain saw, garden cart, and splitting maul on it. Not today. Somewhere in the distant past I recall reading a sportsman's book titled something like "You've Gotta Hurt to be Happy". Probably about duck hunting (wet up to your keister sitting in a marsh blind before dawn when it's below freezing). OK dammit, I'm happy. So happy the chain saw, garden cart, and splitting maul got the day off.

Haven't been spending a lot of time paying attention to the outside world for a few daze. Most daze being spent doing useful stuff (or recovering) and the bits that have caught my attention slipped right through. I did have the tube on this morning when I awoke and there was something about a high school valedictorian being in trouble for wanting to kill the prez. A DUer gone radical moonbat? Drudge (good starting point, works while tea is loosening the few functional neurons) had Man Charged in Alleged Plot to Kill Bush. Turns out he went to Jihadi High, the Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria, Virginia. Well, time to check it out. Unfortunately by the time I googled into it, the pickin's had gotten a bit bare. However, Dr. Rusty Shackleford at The Jawa Report has lots of information and link goodness at: Terrorist Son of Saudi Embassy Worker Attended Saudi Run School.
Whilst googling, I found an organization called "Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism" and they had posted Islamic Saudi Academy is Criticized Again. You might want to check out the pages they link to explain themselves, previous press releases, plus the one labeled "Resources". I intend to read through them as time and interest allow, looks pretty good so far.
**update** LGF has blog history (blogistory?) on the Islamic Saudi Academy. Wahhabi madrassa. Need that about as much as we need airborne ebola.
